Tony Auld
Tony Auld was born in Spokane, WA. He fell in love with Black Hills with his first visit of the Black Hills in 1994 and knew right away he wanted to move here one day. Tony has been with Wharf Resources in the mining engineering department for the past 15 years. Tony lives in Lead with his wife, Darla, and his two daughters, Sydney and Amber. When Tony is not following the girls around on various sport events, he can be found golfing at Tomahawk Lake Golf Course or dancing. Tony joined the Wharf Fund Committee in the beginning of 2016, and he firmly believes that “The best time to give advice to your children is while they’re still young enough to believe you know what you’re talking about”.
Ken Nelson
Ken Nelson has lived in the Black Hills for around 30 years and has worked for Wharf Resources for the last 18 years. Ken has managed and worked in a majority of the departments at Wharf and is currently the Mine Manager. Ken lives in Rapid City with his wife, Charley, and his two daughters. When Ken isn’t working, he is out skiing, biking, or trail running with his family to keep himself occupied and to stay in good health. Ken joined the Wharf Fund Committee in 2015 and he plans to be an active participant to help maintain and establish sustainable contributions that have an impact on the community. Ken plans to “live life to its fullest” and he hopes everyone else does the same.
Julie Stone
Lead Community Member; Wharf Fund President
I have lived in the Black Hills since 1974 and spent the first 20+ years living in the old town of Trojan and the Terry Peak development area, moving to Lead in 1996 where I currently reside. I have owned and operated Stone Land Services, LLC since January 2007 providing support to various entities on a variety of land related issues. Prior to this, I was employed in the land department of Homestake Mining Company of California for 14 years. I am also a past Planning and Zoning Administrator for Lawrence County. I have two grown sons, Jason and Corey that I am very proud of and close to. Jason is an appraiser for Lawrence County and lives in Lead. Corey is an architect and lives in Denver with his wife, Brianne who is an attorney. We get together as often as we can! My favorite spot in the Black Hills is Hanna; however Terry Peak is very near and dear. I love to ski, snowshoe and hike with my dog, Misty, and sit by the fire with my cat, Romeo. I also love to read, which is how I spend about 50% of my time! Favorite quote – to thine own self be true. I have served on the Wharf Fund Committee since January 2017.
